Most slot game sequels are lazy, reskinned cash grabs. Players see right through the lack of new features or meaningful upgrades. Studios are stuck between milking existing IP and burning out their core user base. It’s a lose-lose dynamic I’ve heard complained about repeatedly in recent calls with iGaming studio operators.
Reflex Gaming’s new Dublin Up Pots O’ Gold is the rare sequel that avoids that trap. The UK’s largest independent omni-channel game supplier built the title on Yggdrasil’s DoubleMax GEM. It carries a 10,000x maximum base stake win, with a cascade mechanic that doubles multipliers with no upper cap during free spins. It adds a random Fairy Modifier for guaranteed base game wins, plus Pots O’ Gold prizes that pay up to 1,000x for the grand tier. Reflex CPO Mat Ingram noted the team built on the original Dublin Up’s proven performance rather than reworking it entirely. The title is available now through the Yggdrasil Masters program.
This approach cuts down on both development risk and user acquisition cost for Reflex. Players already recognize the Dublin Up brand, so the studio doesn’t have to spend as much to introduce it to new audiences. The integration with Yggdrasil’s existing tech stack also cuts development timelines significantly for comparable titles. Mid-tier iGaming suppliers will copy this playbook en masse over the next year to protect their market share.
